HIS LAST LETTER HOME

[Nick wrote this undated letter to his mother prior to dying in Iraq -- the original appeared in Newsweek magazine]

"Dearest Mother,

"Look Babe, I have no time to write but got your letter and started to cry almost. I have fun here but am so sad of how you love me and I don't show much in return. I love you more than words, you are a special person. Mom you are gifted and should know it.

"p.s. Write EVERYDAY and tell Pete to also. Send my love to everyone. Tell Nana I got her letter and am going to write back a.s.a.p. Please -- send cough drops & pictures. -- Tell Hugo to write me. I don't have his adress [sic]."

Love
Nick
